چکیده
Hybrid halide perovskite semiconductors exhibit complex, dynamical disorder while also harboring properties ideal for optoelectronic applications that include photovoltaics. However, these materials are structurally and compositionally distinct from traditional compound composed of tetrahedrally coordinated elements with an average valence electron count silicon. The additional dynamic degrees freedom hybrid perovskites underlie many their potentially transformative physical properties. Charge carrier mobility in hybrid halide perovskites
The charge transport properties of hybrid halide perovskites are investigated with a combination of density functional theory including van der Waals interaction and the Boltzmann theory for diffusive transport in the relaxation time approximation. We find the mobility of electrons to be in the range 5-10 cm(2)V(-1)s(-1) and that for holes within 1-5 cm(2)V(-1)s(-1), where the variations depend...

Actually “High”? T outstanding performance of hybrid organic−inorganic perovskites (HOIPs) in photovoltaic (PV) devices is made possible by, among other things, outstanding semiconducting properties: long real charge carrier diffusion lengths, L, of up to 5 and possibly even 10 μm, as well as a lifetime τ of ∼1 μs or more in single-crystal and polycrystalline films. Top electronic transport mat...

Degradation of hybrid halide perovskites under the influence of environmental factors impairs future prospects of using these materials as absorbers in solar cells. First principle calculations can be used as a guideline in search of new materials, provided we can rely on their predictive capabilities. We show that the instability of perovskites can be captured using ab initio total energy calc...

Organic-inorganic halide perovskites present a number of challenges for first-principles atomistic materials modeling. Such "plastic crystals" feature dynamic processes across multiple length and time scales. These include the following: (i) transport of slow ions and fast electrons; (ii) highly anharmonic lattice dynamics with short phonon lifetimes; (iii) local symmetry breaking of the averag...
